Strategy
In 1995, ATV has developped pre-impregnated products, in collaboration
with CIBA company (became Vantico), for its own manufacturing applications
of wind turbine blades. Initially intended for an internal application
only, the objectives were :
- to reduce costs,
- to acheive storage at room temperature (to avoid fridge)
- to keep a solvent-free resin.
We developped a specific impregnation machine which allows the
production of fabric and of UD tapes in carbon or glass, impregnated or
dry. Until 2001, the strategy was to keep the result of our developments
inside the company. As the machine capacities allowed it, and that several
customers expressed their needs of prepreg, we decided to introduce our
pre-impregnated products to the market, in a confidential way, and we ended
up supplying prepreg, even to our competitors.

Prepreg
We impregnate all kind of fabrics or UD tape. Some standard products are
presented below, particularly in fibres of glass or carbon, but the list is
not exhaustive. We offer taylored impregnation according to your specific
needs. Choice of the type of fabric, choice of the fibre weight/m2, choice
of the impregnation rate.

The resin used is a pre-impregnation epoxy at low polymerization
temperature and at room temperature conservation. In case of specific need,
we can also work others resins.

Our strength are the rates and the reactivity, which is due to
privileged partnerships with our suppliers and to our means.
The Prepreg is manufactured either from fabrics supplied at the usual
weavers, either directly from bobbins of fibres for the UD
(unidirectional), what makes our rates very attractive.

The machine also allows to manufacture dry UD tapes (without resin) and
without weaving, directly from bobbins of fibers in glass or carbon. Fibers
are maintained by a very light iron-on grid.
